Part 6 - the Cameron Highlands

Off early in the morning, without Ali, who decided to stay another day to check out more of the sights and to figure out where she wanted to go next. Boarded a small minivan, with a crazed driver who surely must have thought we were in a race of some kind - not too bad on the main highway but once we turned off onto the secondary road it got real hairy with all the tight corners. But there was a payoff - the highlands were beautiful - quite similar to the coastal areas of Malaysia in many respects (the humidity and thick tropical vegetation), but in other respects quite different (cooler temps, cloudy and more of a gentle rolling hills type of topography). Checked into Fathers guesthouse, the same place my son Jeff had stayed four years earlier during his visit here. Met a great group of fellow backpackers - climbed Berinchang peak, had lunch at the top, hiked down through the Boh Tea planatations and shared a great dinner and a few beverages later that evening! Golfed at the Highlands golf club the next day before heading off to KL the following morning.
